On Saturday, November 11th, the West Virginia Mountaineers will visit Memorial Stadium where they will face the Oklahoma Sooners.

 

The Sooners started the season winning 7 in a row until falling to Kansas on October 28th. Nevertheless, Oklahoma tallied a lot of points during that streak, with an average of 41.9 points per contest and totaling 44 touchdowns. With 21 touchdowns and 4 interceptions via passing game, the Sooners averaged 308.9 yards per contest. They also added 20 more touchdowns with 180.9 yards per match through the air. The Sooners suffered a heartbreaking 27-24 loss against Oklahoma State on Saturday, giving up 10 points in each of the 2nd and 4th quarters. Gavin Sawchuk dominated the rush with 111 yards and a touchdown, while Dillon Gabriel completed the game with 344 yards, one touchdown, along with an interception. Despite the defeat, Drake Stoops had an excellent day with 12 receptions for 134 yards including a touchdown of his own.

 

 

Despite facing some formidable opponents in the initial 8 matches this season, West Virginia was able to prevail in 5 of them. Boasting 10 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and 197.8 passing yards per contest during that span, the Mountaineers averaged a respectable 30.6 points each game. Having 203.3 yards per match and 21 touchdowns on the run, West Virginia was quite successful on the ground. The Mountaineers dominated BYU in their weekend matchup, winning 37-7 in a landslide after jumping out of the gate with a 27-0 halftime lead. Although Garrett Greene gained 205 yards and two passing touchdowns, the most of the offensive work on the ground was done by Jahiem White with 146 yards, and CJ Donaldson who had 102 yards with two touchdowns. The Mountaineers defense played a great game against BYU, allowing just 277 yards and 7 scores.
