The Minnesota Vikings welcome the Kansas City Chiefs for this lopsided Week 5 game according to most oddsmakers. After a 0-3 start, the Vikings finally managed to get a win last weekend but are now facing a powerful Kansas City Chief team that is set to be heavy favorites beyond all doubt as Kirk Cousins and Patrick Malhomes lead the offense for these teams.
Kansas City started their season with a close 20-21 defeat against the Detroit Lions in a match with a really underwhelming 2nd half by the Chiefs. However, after that they’ve only gathered victories after defeating the Jaguars, Bears and Jets. These aren’t particularly strong teams, and the Bears and Jets did put up a good fight, but the Chiefs have entered as favorites to each of these encounters and have come up with the desired result. They currently lead the AFC along with the Ravens and Bills, and will be looking to extend this winning spree in this match against the Vikings.
As for Kirk Cousins and the Vikings, they’ve had a rough start to the season and are currently at the bottom half of the NFC standings. The Buccaneers defeated them in Week 1 and the Eagles truly outperformed them in Week 2. The VIkings then lost by 4 points to the Chargers and managed to take a win against the Panthers to start a redemption path. The colossus that now stands before them is looking to end this redemption story short, and with a projected 69% win probability for the Chiefs, Mike Zimmer will have to bring a bag of party tricks to pull a win here. Their only win has been against one of the only two winless teams in the NFC so there isn’t much hope for the Vikings from where most of us are looking at them.
