On December 3 at FedExField, the Washington Commanders (4-8) will take on the Miami Dolphins (8-3) in an effort to snap a three-game losing streak.
Last game, the Dolphins triumphed once more over the unfortunate Jets. Miami led New York 17-6 at the half and went on to win 34-13 on the road. On 243 yards, one touchdown, and two picks, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa led the team while Jaylen Waddle grabbed eight passes for 114 yards, and Raheem Mostert rushed for 94 yards and two scores. The Dolphins played like the squad we saw at the start of the season after only being restricted to 20 points in Week 11, posting 34 points when facing the reliable Jets defense. The Commanders’ defense, which has given up a ton of passing yards and surrendered 30 or more points in 3 of their last five games, will now be faced.
In their most recent game, the Commanders struggled once more against the division rival Cowboys on Thanksgiving. In the last quarter, Washington got within 10 points, but they collapsed to lose 45–10. QB Sam Howell amassed 300 yards along with an interception, while Brian Robinson gained 53 yards on the ground and for an even hundred yards, Curtis Samuel recorded nine catches. Howell’s NFL career has been quite the roller coaster in his rookie year. There will be games when he appears off his game and throws three interceptions, as he did against the Giants and the Bills, but there will also be games in which Howell throws a couple of touchdown passes and commits no turnovers. Indeed, Washington’s passing defense is dreadful. It has conceded the second-most gross yards per throwing attempt (6.3) and the highest number of passing touchdowns (28). However, this squad can keep the Dolphins to under 10 points as long as it can curtail Miami’s explosive rushing attack, even by a small amount.
