Four of Everton’s five matches this season have ended in defeat, most recently last weekend’s 2-0 home loss to Arsenal. After defending deep into their own half for the majority of the encounter, the Toffees looked completely uninspired in the final third. They appeared to be waiting for the Gunners to break them down.
The most recent meeting between these two teams ended in a 1-0 victory for Everton at Goodison Park. Brentford had a three-game winning streak snapped by that victory. Last season, a 1-1 draw was recorded in this precise matchup.
