Newcastle Analysis: They haven’t lost in 3 matches
To begin with, Newcastle knows how important it is to use their late 1-0 triumph against Fulham last weekend as a springboard for future success. Eddie Howe’s long-term future at St. James’ Park has drawn a lot of criticism, despite the Magpies’ continued hopes of winning another European match this season. Newcastle has mainly struggled with consistency since the start of the New Year, despite the former Bournemouth manager’s team managing to collect 7 points from their previous 3 Premier League games. Howe’s team has not won in the top division in a row since the beginning of December and has displayed some protracted inconsistencies at home.
Tottenham Analysis: Coming off a 2 goal win
As for the visitors, Tottenham is in prime position to secure a Champions League return this season after they managed to quickly go back to winning ways last week, romping to a 3-1 victory at home against Nottingham Forest. Ange Postecoglou will have a serious headache due to his team’s ongoing problems outside of north London, even if Spurs have only lost once in their last six Premier League games. As of late, the former Celtic manager’s team has only managed one Premier League victory away from home since December 15th, when they were last seen traveling and settling for a 1-1 draw against long-standing rivals West Ham. Spurs will be hoping for a similar showing tonight, though, as they welcomed Newcastle to the capital for their rematch on December 10th and won 4-1.
