As of right now, the hosts sit 7th in the league standings, 3points behind sixth-place Manchester United and twelve behind their opponents this weekend. The Hammers hope to qualify for European competition for the 4th time in their upcoming campaign after doing so 3 times in a row. West Ham would barely be in the running for the top six if they won this game, but the Premier League might get an additional European spot. If they were to lose, though, there would be plenty of teams below them awaiting any mistakes, and they would separate from the sides above even further. After receiving his tenth yellow card of the year, Edson Alvarez will serve the 2nd of a 2-game suspension.
Tottenham Analysis: Currently sitting in a European Competition spot
Tottenham is engaged in a fierce competition for Europe, more especially for the Champions League. Even if they might place 5th, they’ll want to make sure by placing in the top 4. They regained control of the race the following week after losing 3-0 to Fulham after winning over Aston Villa early in March. With a game remaining and only 3 points separating them and Villa, they need to win this weekend in order to consolidate their lead. Man United is 8 points behind them, but they won’t want to give them any chances to go closer. With the exception of a few players who have missed extended periods of time, Tottenham has no injury problems.
