Torino, hoping for their second straight Serie A victory, travels to face Salernitana in the Granata derby. Ivan Juric’s squad sits in the middle of the standings heading into game four, but they have reason to be optimistic due to their matchup against their struggling opponents.
Although Paolo Sousa‘s squad opened the season with a surprising draw against Roma, they have since drawn at home with Udinese and lost to Lecce. Salernitana’s offensive prowess has been severely affected due to the loss of Boulaye Dia, their standout player from the previous season.
This is not good news before Il Toro’s visit, considering they sported one of the league’s best defenses the previous year. Torino looked back to their best defensively against Genoa, allowing only two shots on target, after a shaky start to the season.
For impartial viewers, this could not lead to the most exciting matchups. Torino have failed to provide much of an offensive threat so far this season, scoring just twice in their opening three games. We anticipate a low-scoring match with under 2.5 goals on Monday night given Salernitana’s comparable troubles.
However, the summertime addition that the tourists made does have some exciting possibilities. Duvan Zapata’s goal scoring had dwindled in recent seasons, but he has scored once already this season. The Colombian adds a spark that Juric’s team lacked last year and might be a problem for Salernitana this weekend.
After missing the loss to Lecce due to an injury, Boulaye Dia was obliged to return from international duty with Senegal. Jovane Cabral or Erik Botheim are two players that could get the nod to lead the line for Paolo Sousa’s squad.
Although summer addition Duvan Zapata is set to reclaim his position up front, Antonio Sanabria is anticipated to be ready after returning to training after an injury. Despite Nemanja Radonjic’s game-winning goal against Genoa, Adrien Tameze might also be included in the starting lineup.
