The Serie A is returning to play this week with a new round of games. On Friday, Genoa will square off against a formidable Sassuolo team at the Stadio Citta del Tricolore.
Genoa has dropped just two times in 10 matches this season, despite having hosted 5 of the top 8 matches from the previous campaign. Despite Sassuolo’s persistent penchant for scoring goals, their performance this season has not. Sassuolo is a startling 21 points less competitive than second-place Juventus, despite having scored nearly the same number of goals. Alessio Dionisi’s team has lost a lot of ground due to a porous defense. The poorest team in the league is the only squad to have given up more goals than the alarming total of 30 goals scored by the Neroverdi, and Sassuolo is the sole other Serie A team that has failed to maintain a clean sheet this campaign along with Salernitana. Sassuolo has always ensured that their victories come under spectacular circumstances. The top two teams, Inter Milan and Juventus, have both lost to Dionisi’s team, while the Neroverdi’s 4-3 triumph over Empoli this past weekend nicely sums up their performance.
