The squad led by Aurelio Andreazzoli finished the previous season 4 spots above the red zone, but they are currently in the bottom 3, so things are not looking good. This season, Empoli has struggled mightily in the bottom, winning only 4 matches and taking some close losses. Under Davide Nicola’s new leadership, they did defeat Monza 3-0 last time out to snap an 8-game losing streak in Serie A, but they’ll need beyond just the occasional success to remain up. After 21 games, the visitors are presently 19th with only 16 points.
