Inter Milan can reclaim first place in Serie A with a win over Torino on Saturday night. The team lost that position prior to the international break. Inter will look to extend their impressive road run of success while Torino are anxious to break an extended scoring drought.
Ivan Juri certainly welcomed the international break as a chance to recuperate and prepare for the next matches because Torino has not had the best beginning to the campaign. Torino have had a difficult start to the season and have gone winless in their previous 4 Serie A contests. A couple victories would be nice because the bottom of the table is starting to get crowded.
When Il Toro lost 0-2 against Juventus during the Derby della Mole a couple of weeks ago, it was their fourth consecutive league encounter without a victory. It also marked the third game in a row that Ivan Juric’s team was without a goal. In the previous round, they were only able to get one shot on target over their neighbors. Buongiorno and Soppy are both out with injury, and Koffi Djidji is a significant question mark who will be evaluated before the game.
Because of Inter’s draw with Bologna, AC Milan now hold the top position in Serie A by a two-point margin. It gets worse because Juventus is also just a single point below Inter. Inter’s two losses during the current campaign occurred versus Bologna and Sassuolo, continuing an overly familiar pattern from Inzaghi’s initial two seasons as manager. If they continue to lose games to those clubs in that manner, Inter could lose another Scudetto.
Before that, on October 3rd, in the San Siro, Simone Inzaghi’s team defeated Benfica 1-0 to earn their first victory in Group D within the Champions League. Inter has only lost 1 of the last 10 games they have played across all competitions. The player to watch on the visiting squad is Lautaro Martinez, who scored in a 2-2 tie with Bologna.
