Nick Ball has earned himself a fearsome reputation in British featherweight boxing, and now is making strides toward world recognition. On Saturday, November 18th, Ball will face Isaac Dogboe; should he prevail, the victor could compete for world titles as early as 2024. Both fighters have much to prove this weekend, yet both appear well equipped for success in this fight. The fight will take place at Manchester’s AO Arena and feature a full 12-round contest.
Dogboe, 24, hailing from London is currently ranked no.2 by WBC and no.6 by WBO in featherweight divisions respectively. His record stands at 24-3 with 16 victories coming by way of knockout victories.
Dogboe was born in Bukom, Ghana and, like many of Ghana’s greatest boxers, his father Paul encouraged him to begin boxing at an early age. Within no time at all he became a popular youth boxer, eventually winning the Ghanaian junior championship at just 16.
Dogboe has had an impressive journey since making his professional debut in 2012 and earning a bronze medal at the 2013 African Youth Championship for his weight division (126lbs). A natural counterpuncher with tremendous power under his punching gloves, Dogboe has recently shown some stunning knockout punches as well.
In May in Belfast, unbeaten Ball (18-0, 11 KOs) defeated Ludumo Lamati during the twelfth round of their fight. In 2023, the 26-year-old Liverpool fighter steps into the ring for the second time, hoping to win a shot at the world title. Ball is faster and could use his superior foot speed to get off to an early lead and try and exploit Dogboe’s weaknesses.
The 26-year-old Ball has steadily been rising through the ranks since his decisive win over Isaac Lowe in 2022. Lowe was escorted to the ring by close companion Tyson Fury, who afterwards at Wembley Stadium knocked out Dillian Whyte within the main event. After going to warfare with Isaac Lowe during a bloodbath that ended with a stunning punch to Ball in the 6th round, that bout was what really put the prospect on the radar.
