On Saturday, two of the Bundesliga’s bottom feeders, Augsburg and VfL Bochum, will square off at the WWK Arena. The teams’ lackluster 2-2 record after two games is understandable given the difficulty of their schedules.

After a 5-0 loss to Stuttgart on opening weekend, a team that survived last season only because of the relegation playoff, relegation seemed certain for Bochum. Thomas Letsch’s squad entered their match against Borussia Dortmund as heavy underdogs after that thumping, but they capitalized on BVB’s sloppy play to earn a 1-1 draw.
However, another result may be necessary here because Bochum’s upcoming schedule is extremely difficult. After their trip to Augsburg, Bochum will play four of the top seven teams from the previous season in the Bundesliga (including Bayern Munich) in their next five games (including a tie with Gladbach).
