Freiburg has won their first two games of the season and comes into this encounter in fine form. Christian Streich’s team seems to be off to another strong start after losing only one of their first nine games last season en route to a fifth-place finish.
The fan-owned team has a history of performing above expectations, and they almost missed out on a Champions League berth last season. They started off strong with a 2-1 victory over Hoffenheim thanks to a pair of Hungarians, Attila Szalai and Roland Sallai.
The inaugural home match of Freiburg in the current season witnessed a competitive clash against Werder Bremen, ultimately resulting in a 1-0 triumph for Freiburg, courtesy of a decisive late goal scored by Maximilian Philipp.
