On Saturday, two teams with vastly different goals for the 2023–2024 Bundesliga season will square off at Mewa Arena. Mainz and Bayer Leverkusen. It’s safe to assume that Mainz will play their hearts out in search of their first win of the season as they try to climb out of the relegation zone.

After five games, Mainz sits dead last in the Bundesliga standings. They have only one point from their first five games after suffering four losses. With only four goals scored in five games and fourteen allowed, it has been difficult for them to earn points in the early going of the Bundesliga.
Mainz will try to shore up their defense and overall team strength before hosting a red-hot Leverkusen squad. They’ll need every ounce of resolve they can summon to beat a Leverkusen team that can score at will.

Due to numerous injuries, Mainz will be without Burkardt, Widmer, Leitsch, Weiper, and Hanche-Olsen. Patrik Schick, a striker for Xabi Alonso, and right defender Arthur, who both have muscle injuries, will not be able to play this season.
Bayer Leverkusen will likely prevail over Mainz 05, allowing them to maintain their position near the top of the league.
