In recent years, Porto has had a bit of success with this competition, and they can undoubtedly shock Europe’s royalty. They lost to Benfica in the O Classico over the weekend, though, and they go into the game on Wednesday knowing it. Recently, injuries have plagued Zaidu, Pepe, Marcano, Gabriel Veron, Evanilson, and Gabriel Veron.
Barcelona made an emphatic start to Group H by crushing Royal Antwerp 5-0, but will need to be at their very best to beat Porto at Estadio do Dragao. Real Madrid’s strong start has prevented the La Liga champions from taking the league’s top spot, but many fans are optimistic that another successful campaign is on the horizon because of their unblemished beginning. The benign group that Barca was placed in, though, gives them a tremendous chance to get to the knockout stages, and they badly need to make strides in Europe. Midfielder Frenkie de Jong will continue what is anticipated to be an extended absence from Barcelona for this match. While Pedri has recently resumed training, Raphinha was additionally sidelined over several weeks.
