Villareal kick off their 2022-23 La Liga campaign on Saturday when they take a trip to José Zorrilla Stadium where they’ll face off against Real Valladolid. Emery’s team will certainly be looking to challenge for a top-six spot in the table this season, and they picked up a respectable 23 points on their travels in the league last term, which should mean that confidence is high heading into their opening-weekend match.
On the other hand, Pacheta’s side will try to keep up their form as they have had an unbeaten pre-season, which should have increased confidence, and they beat Italian giants Lazio on penalties in their final friendly of the summer last weekend. While Valladolid has high hopes of making it to the top of the standings, the reality is that they might struggle adapting to La Liga in the first couple of weeks.
