Houston Astros vs Texas Rangers: Predictions & Analysis 4/27/2022

April 27, 2022

The all Texas AL West battle continues tonight as the Rangers will be looking to add one more win to their series column against an Astros team who is ready to show that yesterday’s win was not a one-trick pony kind of move and that they are ready to take over the series and continue on their hopes of climbing up in their divisional standings. For tonight’s game it will be RHP Cristian Javier who will be looking to keep the Astros up in the fight and take the series lead while for the Rangers RHP Glenn Otto will be looking to score his second win of the season in as many starts while also trying to bring a win at home back for the Rangers.

Game Preview

It was a great night to be an Astros fan yesterday as the Astros were finally able to snap out of a recent slump of sorts in which they had lost three of their last five games. With pitcher Jake Odorizzi pitching some very good innings and an Astros offense coming in clutch right when it was needed, the Astros were able to beat the Rangers 5-1. Today they’ll be looking to continue to build up on that win as they take the field once again to try and topple their state and divisional rivals, with an offense that fans and experts are hoping finally wakes up and starts delivering the results that are always expected from them.

In order to do so, from the mound Cristian Javier will be taking the lead for Houston as he is looking to have his first official start of the season be as successful as possible, especially after having already pitched 8 1/3 innings of scoreless ball in the season so far coming from the bullpen. Between Javier having a good outing like he has shown he can have and the Astros stepping on the gas on offense, the series lead could be at arm’s length for Houston.

The Rangers will be looking to their own here to try and convert last night’s loss into a memory by winning today and taking the series lead against Houston. For Texas, who right now sit at the last place of the AL West with a 6-11 record, the understanding that this is a long season and that there’s plenty more to come is very understandable, but with that said, it is also very clear that every game at home should be games where winning is non-negotiable. In order to go from talk to action, the Rangers will be relying on starter Glen Otto, who with his eyes and mind set on scoring his 2nd win of the season, will be out to show that the Rangers are “THE” team in Texas
