Game Preview

Yesterday at Nationals Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers took down the Washington Nationals 9-4 after Mookie Betts homered twice. Betts hit a three-run homer off against former Dodgers pitcher Josiah Gray and a solo homer off Victor Arano. Today the Washington Nationals will try to bounce back from their disappointing defeat and try to turn things around in their third and last game of the series, while the Dodgers will try to keep their hot record going.

The Dodgers have won 9 out of their last 10 games following a 4-game losing streak in early May. To keep their good record going, the Los Angeles Dodgers will send out Julio Urias as their starting pitcher. This is Urias’ 9th start and he is holding a decent 2.63 ERA and 1.05 WHIP. He’s allowed 2 or fewer earned runs in 6 of his 8 starts this season, making it safe to say that he won’t be giving away many runs against the National who are lacking on the offense. Urias had 5 scoreless innings pitched in his last start at the Philadelphia Phillies after he allowed 8 runs over 6 innings pitched a week before that.

Going up against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Washington Nationals will open up the game with Erick Fedde, who is holding a 4.08 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP, making things look not that great for the Nats in this 3rd game. Fedde has struggled while playing at home as he has a 6.88 ERA with 4 HR allowed in 4 home starts compared to a 1.99 ERA and 1 HR allowed in 4 road starts. Fedde made an appearance against the Los Angeles Dodgers back in 2019 where he pitched 1 scoreless IP in relief. If he is able to somehow replicate a similar scenario then the Nationals might have a chance to play a more defensive game.
