Miami Marlins vs Cincinnati Reds: Picks & Predictions 7/26/2022

Game Preview

Yesterday, the Cincinnati Reds completely rolled over the Miami Marlins after an explosive showing from their offense, picking up an 11-2 win in the opener. It was definitely an unexpected loss of a Marlins team that recently took down the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

The Cincinnati Reds are such a wild team that it’s hard to know what to expect from them. They had such a slow start this season, but they have managed to get back on track. Out of their last 13 games, the Reds have won 9, and 2 of those wins were over the New York Yankees, who are currently leading the MLB standings.

Today the Miami Marlins will be sending Pablo Lopez to the mound, who is making his 20th start of the season. He is holding a 3.14 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP over 109 innings pitched while striking out 107. While his numbers don’t look that bad, Pablo Lopez’ last outing wasn’t necessarily that great, giving up 5 hits and 5 earned runs in only 5 innings of work.

On the other side, Hunter Greene is making his 19th start of the season for the Cincinnati Reds. The 22-year-old rookie is carrying a 3-11 record with a 5.78 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP over 90.1 innings pitched while striking out 113. While the Cincinnati Reds were capable of picking up a very important win yesterday, things might not look that great for them this time.

Cincinnati can’t count on its offense having a really great game to bail them out in every encounter. The Reds are yielding the most RBIs and second-most runs on average this season. Even a team like the Marlins, who have struggled offensively, can find success against this Reds rotation.
