Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers. Brewers pitcher Corbin Burnes will face off against Dodgers starter Lance Lynn. Milwaukee is currently 2.5 games ahead of the second-place Cubs and third-place Reds in the NL Central and would like to keep that lead with a victory tonight.
L.A. is riding a 10-game win streak into tonight’s game, making them the hottest club in the majors. After defeating the Brewers 7-1 last night, the Dodgers hope to complete a series sweep tonight. Will Smith had a three-for-four night at the plate with two runs batted in while the pitching staff limited them to just three hits for the game.
Burnes has been a reliable starter for the Brewers recently, but he struggled against the White Sox last Friday. In 5.2 innings of work, he allowed five earned runs on eight hits. Fortunately, the club rallied late and won, 7-6. He has limited opponents to a.198 batting average this year, so the Dodgers may struggle to put up long scoring streaks tonight.
Since joining Los Angeles at the trade deadline, Lynn has been brilliant, winning all three of his starts. On Friday, he faced the Rockies and, in just 5.0 innings of work, he struck out nine batters and his team went on to win by a score of 6-1. So far in his Dodger career, he has allowed just four earned runs on eighteen hits.
Milwaukee has lost the first two games of the series, so this is their last chance to salvage something from their trip to Dodger Stadium. Tonight, one of the Brewers’ best pitchers will take the mound, and he may pitch better than he did in his last start (last Friday).
