In the NL Central, the St. Louis Cardinals moved from the top floor to the basement in the course of a single campaign. The Cardinals won the division last season after exploding into life in the course of the second half. The Cardinals have had a terrible season thus far and are currently in the bottom spot of the NL Central. The positive news for the Arizona Cardinals is the fact that nobody else has yet been able to run off with the division, and with just over half of the campaign remaining, the squad is still in close proximity of the division lead.
Over the course of the last ten years, the Houston Astros have dominated the AL West Division, but this year the squad has had trouble keeping up. With a 6-5 victory on Sunday evening, the Astros avoided being swept by the Dodgers in Los Angeles over this past weekend. With the victory, the Astros increased their AL West deficit to 5 games over the leading Texas Rangers.
