Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins – This centuries-long rivalry dates back over one hundred years. Both teams will have an opportunity to move up in the standings when they face each other on Friday, June 16th at Target Field in Minneapolis. The Tigers currently rank 4th in the AL Central division, six games behind the Twins who are in 1st place in the division. In order to make the playoffs both teams need to keep winning. Tigers supporters have experienced a difficult year in Detroit as they’ve had to put up with yet another dismal campaign. Detroit has a 28-39 record going into this match, but they’re clearly on the wrong track. The Tigers have now lost 11 of their last 13 contests, and they now appear destined to fail to reach the playoffs for the seventh straight year.

The 2023 Minnesota Twins campaign has gotten off to a somewhat of a rough start, but Twins supporters must be pleased that their team currently leads the AL Central, even though it is only possible since they compete in a very poor division. The Twins are currently 35-34, but they are on the upswing after winning 4 of their previous 6 games entering Friday.
With 303 runs scored in the team’s initial 69 contests, or an average of 4.4 runs per game, the Minnesota offense has been adequate thus far, placing them squarely in the center of the league.
