On Wednesday, October 4th at Target Field, the Minnesota Twins will try to wrap off the best-of-three AL Wild Card set versus the Toronto Blue Jays. With a 3-1 victory on Tuesday, Minnesota ended an 18-game playoff losing record and got one step closer to facing the Houston Astros in the AL Division Series. The previous playoff set the Twins, who took the AL Central, won was in 2002. The Blue Jays finished 3rd in the AL East and have participated in three of the previous 4 AL Wild Card series, although they have not yet claimed a victory.
Toronto will enter this game battling to keep its season alive and World Series chances holding on for dear life after they got defeated yesterday. For Minnesota, yesterday’s situation was as simple as it comes in the playoffs.
With the exception of two home runs, Toronto’s bullpen did the best it could in Game 1, but the Blue Jays’ lineup struggled at the plate. Bo Bichette and Kevin Kiermaier both had two hits, and Kiermaier also drove in the lone run for Toronto, while Vladimir Guerrero only managed a 1-for-4 performance, and Cavan Biggio, George Springer, Matt Chapman and Brandon Belt teamed for a 1-for-17 performance.
With only 3 runs, Minnesota was able to take a one-game advantage in the three-game set and push Toronto close to elimination. With a pair of home runs and 3 RBI, Royce Lewis led the Twins’ offense and was responsible for the entire Minnesota’s runs. Carlos Correa and Max Kepler’s hits became the only additional 2 for Minnesota.

He is currently playing for his present club against his former squad in a game that is win or go home. The Twins dispatch their ace, Sonny Gray, to the mound; this year, he’s been nothing short of outstanding. Here, the Blue Jays must conquer many obstacles.
