On Friday June 30th at Kauffman Stadium, the Kansas City Royals and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet up in a game featuring two teams with diverging strategies. The Dodgers sit 2nd in the NL West while the Royals have fallen all the way to bottom in AL Central with a losing record. This game will be the first game of a three-game series between them.
This will be the inaugural meeting between these teams this season, both of which are underperforming overall. While the Dodgers managed to win the series versus the Colorado Rockies earlier in the week, their performance throughout this season has not been consistent enough to surpass the Arizona Diamondbacks for the lead of the NL West but due to their recent performances they are now only two games behind them.

Ranked 29th in MLB with just 3.71 runs per game average, their chances to improve against the Dodgers this season remain strong but more runs must be scored to climb out of last place in their division standings.
The Dodgers are fresh off winning three series in a row and will be looking to extend it against the Royals in this interleague matchup. Bobby Miller will take to the mound, hoping for a successful outing after an inconsistent start in his last game versus the Houston Astros. The youngster has a 3-1 record in 32.2 innings pitched this campaign. He has a 4.13 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, and was outstanding in his first 4 major league appearances. However, he has given up 13 runs in his most recent 2 appearances. Just 2 home runs have been given up by Miller. He is among the best MLB prospects overall.
Alec Marsh will make his Major League Baseball debut ahead of Jordan Lyles, who is unwell, according to the Royals. With a poor 4.62 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 62.1 innings pitched, Marsh hasn’t been having a great season in the minor leagues. In his last 4 minor league campaigns, the righty has a 5.72 ERA.
