Cardinals Analysis: They’re hoping Zach Thompson can do the job
Zack Thompson will start for the Cardinals in their 2nd game of the season. With a 5-7 record in 66.1 innings pitched and a poor 4.48 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, Thompson had no success in the previous season. He gave up 8 home runs. In the 2019 draft, the righty was selected in the first round. With a 2.81 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP in 16 innings, Thompson had a fantastic spring training campaign. Last season, he pitched poorly in Triple-A, recording an appalling 8.65 ERA in 34.1 innings. After a terrible season, the St. Louis Cardinals are looking to bounce back. With just 71 games won, it was one of the team’s poorest seasons in a long time.
Dodgers Analysis: They just won 7-1 their last game
The Los Angeles Dodgers will try to improve on their triumph over the Cardinals on opening day. Leading the charge was Freddie Freeman, who went 3 for 3 with a double, 3 RBIs, and a solo home run. Mookie Betts also contributed a home run. The Dodgers’ total for the season was completed by Max Muncy with 2 RBIs and James Outman going two for three with an RBI. To cap off the Dodgers’ offensive in the win, Will Smith added a base hit, Teoscar Hernandez added a double, and Shohei Ohtani went 2 for 3 with a double. After pitching six innings and giving up one run on two hits while striking out five, Tyler Glasnow was awarded the win.
