Cardinals Analysis: They grabbed Andrew Kittredge
Although the Cardinals just had a dismal 71 victories, they have advanced to the postseason four out of the previous five seasons. Oliver Marmol, the manager, is starting his 3rd season with the Cardinals. The trio of Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Gorman, and Nolan Arenado spearheading the Cardinals’ attack remains largely unchanged. St. Louis acquired bullpen arm Andrew Kittredge in exchange for free agents Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson. The Cardinals didn’t act in a panic, so it’s obvious they’re writing last year off as a fluke. When he gets the ball, Miles Mikolas was 9–13 with a 4.78 ERA and 137 strikeouts in the previous year. Mikolas’ career record versus the Dodgers is 1-2 with a 4.23 ERA and 17 strikeouts. After this series against LAD, the Cardinals will play the Padres and Marlins.
Dodgers Analysis: Tyler Glasnow is starting for them
The Dodgers’ 2023 campaign was noticeably better than their previous one. Los Angeles finished 1st in the National League West with an overall record of 100–62. It was LA’s 4th season in a row with 100 or more wins (during seasons without campaign cuts). However, the Diamondbacks’ NLDS sweep of the Dodgers destroyed their aspirations of making the postseason. On Thursday, Tyler Glasnow will start for the Dodgers as their pitcher. In 3 starts throughout Spring Training this year, Glasnow recorded a 1-0 run total and a 0.90 ERA. With 5.0 innings pitched and 2 earned runs, Glasnow recorded a no-decision in his 1st start of the 2024 season (in South Korea).
