In his last two starts, Strider has allowed just four hits and four walks in 14 scoreless innings, and he is looking for his third consecutive win. On Friday, Strider struck out ten batters while helping the San Francisco Giants to a 4-0 victory at home. After seven rounds, he had given up just one hit and no walks.
The San Francisco Giants won last Wednesday to end a losing streak of two games and prevent a sweep of a three-game series in Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park. They improved to 66-61 on the year with a ten-inning, eight-point victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Giants have now lost six consecutive series and are winless in their last 17 games.
Today, 26-year-old right-hander Logan Webb will take the mound; he is 9-9 with a 3.36 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 162 strikeouts to 26 walks in 169 innings pitched. Webb has pitched well in his four prior appearances this month, posting a perfect 1-0 record while allowing only nine runs (eight earned) on twenty-six hits and two walks in twenty-seven and a third innings of work.
