Heat vs 76ers Game Preview
At Wells Fargo Center on April 17, the Miami Heat (46-36) and Philadelphia 76ers (47-35) square off in the NBA Play-In Tournament. Continue reading this article for more basketball analysis.
Heat Analysis: On a 2-game winning run
Jimmy Butler had a breakthrough postseason performance the year before. Having finished tied for Miami’s highest scorer in the regular season with Tyler Herro, he is well-positioned to do so again. Butler has averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, five assists, and 1.3 steals in 34 minutes in 60 games, all of which he has started. The small forward scored in double figures in nine of the previous games, including 27 on April 7 against Indiana in a 117-115 loss. The one and only time he played Philadelphia in 2023, on April 4, he lost 109-105 despite scoring 20 points, dishing out five assists, and pulling down four rebounds. Herro has also been playing exceptionally well lately, scoring in double digits in each of the six games since his injury return.
76ers Analysis: They’ve won 8 consecutive matches
Joel Embiid, the reigning MVP, returned to the 76ers after a lengthy injury layoff, and the team finished the season in blazing form. Sadly, Philadelphia’s 47-35 record would leave them just shy of an automatic postseason berth, as they would lose a tiebreaker to the Pacers, who are now in 6th place. Nevertheless, the Sixers, who are riding an 8-game winning streak going into Wednesday’s game, will be optimistic about locking up a postseason position. In their most recent game, they triumphed 107-86 over the Brooklyn Nets. Embiid is producing overwhelming statistics and has continued where he left off. He is actually averaging more points this season than minutes played, scoring 34.7 points a night in 33.6 minutes of action.
