Magic Analysis: Coming off a 14-point loss
In the first game of the series, Orlando shot just 32.6% from the field, but five players scored in double figures. In his first postseason game, forward Paolo Banchero, who led the Magic in scoring during the regular season with an average of 22.6 points, scored a career-high 24 points. The 21-year-old, who was selected first overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, added 5 assists and 7 rebounds. Franz Wagner blocked 3 shots, finished with 7 rebounds, and scored eighteen points. The forward, 22, has scored at least 14 points in each of his 5 2023–24 encounters with the Cavaliers. While center Moritz Wagner and forward Jonathan Isaac each had 10 points and 5 rebounds in the end, the latter coming off the bench, Jalen Suggs concluded with 13 points.
Cavaliers Analysis: Donovan Mitchell just scored 30 points
The Cleveland Cavaliers, on the other hand, kind of stumbled their way into the playoffs, but they appear to have turned the corner after defeating the Magic handily in Game 1. With 30 points on 11 of 21 shooting, Donovan Mitchell led the team. Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen each scored 16, and Darius Garland added 14 points and 8 assists. The Cavaliers set the tone early, scoring 33 points in the 1st quarter to take the lead, then playing excellent defense to extend the lead to 20 points in the 3rd. As a team, they shot 44% from the field and 8 of thirty from the 3-point line.
