The Memphis Grizzlies face the Utah Jazz tonight at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City for a Western Conference clash between two of the worst performing teams in the league at the moment. With an 0-4 record, the Grizzlies have had a horrible start to the season. They’re also riddled with injuries. Aldama, Adams, Clarke and Rose are all out while Kennard is listed as doubtful. The Grizzlies fell prey to the Pelicans, Nuggets, Wizards and Mavericks. Interestingly enough, the teams that most people thought would pose a bigger problem were their narrowest losses.
For the Jazz, it’s about defending their home turf and regaining strength. They did manage to claim a win against the Clippers but have lost every other game, including losses to the Kings and Suns. Lauri Markkanen leads the offense with an average 25 points per game while John Collins leads rebounds at 10.5. Markkanen also leads in three point percentage, taking 44%. At the other side of the court is Desmond Bane at 25.5 points per game backed by Tillman at 8.5 rebounds and Jaren Jackson Jr hitting 41% in three point percentage.
Odds continue to fluctuate between these two teams but many oddsmakers cite this is a turning point for the Grizzlies if they make it. They play a struggling Trail Blazers after Utah so if they can win tonight, they can surely string two wins together. As for the Jazz, they have the Magic next which have been okay this season and could pose a threat despite their 2-2 record.
