The Arkansas State Red Wolves are taking a trip to Colorado to face off against the Air Force Falcons for some college basketball action on Friday night. These two teams are heading into this game in very different forms. Air Force is coming off a 79-58 victory over South Dakota, while ASU fell down to Central Arkansas on the road 72-67.
The Red Wolves had an eight-point lead by halftime against Central Arkansas on Tuesday, but that wasn’t enough as they started to struggle in the second half and ended up falling by five. They still had an 11-point advantage early in the second half, but then allowed the Bears to shoot 56%, which ended up being their demise.
On top of that, ASU didn’t help themselves by shooting an atrocious 4-of-19 three-pointers (21%) and a disappointing 5-of-14 (36%) from the line. Though it wasn’t enough to carry his team, Caleb Fields led with 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while Omar El-Sheikh added 13 points of his own and 10 boards. The Red Wolves are now 0-3 on the road and 5-1 while playing at home.
When it comes to the Air Force Falcons, they had won four straight matches before being defeated at Portland State 68-64. Air Force’s defense line has been struggling, and against Portland State, they allowed them to shoot 50% from the floor in that match, which put them in a tough position.
A few days later, the Falcons managed to take down South Dakota by 21 points, and that should give them some amount of confidence heading into this game. They held the Coyotes to just 37% shooting and a mere 58 points. Jake Heidbreder led his team with a whopping 27 points in just 25 minutes on 8-of-12 shooting. The opposition shot just 37% from the floor, while shooting 14.3% from beyond the arc.
