During the evening, Texas made 55% of their long-range attempts.
The Rice Owls, who were defeated 89-76 at home by Harvard on Friday evening, enter this game against Power-Five league Texas with a meager 1-1 record. Rice fell behind by much to eighteen points before making a comeback to regain the advantage. After regrouping, Harvard won the game on the road with a 25–12 surge in the closing minutes. Rice had offensive trouble, shooting 33% from 3-point range and 42% from the floor overall. In terms of defense, the Owls gave up 53% of Harvard’s shots along with being outrebounded 38–33 by the Crimson. With 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 3-pointers, Mekhi Mason powered the Owls. Max Fielder added 13 points, and Anthony Selden tallied 18 points.
