With 11:45 remaining, the Gaels were up one point, but they quickly went on a 14-4 run to take the lead, 74-63, with 7:06 remaining. The Gaels would not allow the Mountaineers to get any closer than 9 points the rest of the way. Iona had a 38–30 edge on the boards and shot 52.3% from the field, hitting 8 of 17 from three-point range. With 26 points and 6 boards in the win, Greg Gordon paced the Gaels.
