Youngstown State Penguins vs Canisius Golden Griffins: Predictions & Picks 11/07/2022

Game Preview

Game Preview

The long wait is finally over for college basketball fans all around the country. Today showcases the return of college battles with a large slate of games to watch and of course do some playing on. While there aren’t a lot of marquee matchups, there are games where bettors can find an extra edge. One of those special games is Youngstown State vs Canisius, as the tip off is set to start at 7:30 p.m EST.

The Penguins are an interesting sleeper team in the Horizon Conference going into this season. YSU is by far one of the most experienced teams in the country, with 6 fifth year players, including star and captain guard Dwayne Cohill. They also added 6’7 ft rebounding menace in Adrian Nelson, who the Penguins was able to barely take from conference rival Northern Kentucky in the transfer market. Youngstown State ranked 217th in 2 point field goal percentage defense last season, and adding Nelson in the paint should help improve in that area of the court.

Canisius is a team that is getting too much respect from analysts so early in the season. The Golden Griffins ranked almost near the bottom of the MAAC conference, and while they do play better at home than on the road, Youngstown has quite a big edge in size and overall talent at the guard positions.

One important thing to pay attention to in this game is foul shots. Youngstown State ranked 22nd in free throw % and did a good job getting to the line last season, ranking 133rd in foul shots created per game. Meanwhile, Canisius was one of the worst free throw shooting teams in the country.

As for the game itself, we expect the Penguins to have the advantage this time around. As their pick and roll plus size advantage should be enough to push for better offensive play.

Let’s check the latest NCAAB picks, news, stats and NCAAB expert picks for Tennessee Martin vs Pittsburgh. We’ve plenty of NCAAB predictions for you to consider.
