Game Preview

The “Sark Bowl” has officially happened as Steve Sarkisian’s current Texas team will battle against his former school, Washington. The Longhorns have won 6 of their last 8 bouts. Washington started extremely well with a 4-0 record and then lost back to back games to UCLA and Arizona State, however they were able to get back on track coming into this matchup. The initial kick is set for Thursday, December 29th at 9 p.m Eastern Time hosted in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Bijan Robinson has been a huge question mark coming into the Alamo Bowl, and the answer was a sound no. On December 19th, he officially announced his decision to go into the NFL draft, as such he will not play in the bowl match.

Robinson had a total of 258 carries for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns this year, with an overall total of 20 touchdowns in 2022. On top of that he has completed 100 rushing yards in 9 out of 10 games, versus opponents such as Kansas with 243 and Kansas State with 209. Within these 3 seasons playing at Texas, he achieved 539 carries for a total of 3,410 yards and 33 touchdowns.

The Huskies’ starting QB is Michael Penix Jr. His debut season with the Huskies has gone incredibly well as he managed to set a single game record of 516 yards while improving massively under the leadership of head coach Kalen DeBoer. Currently he boasts 29 touchdown passes with only 7 interceptions. Penix leads the entire nation with a total of 4,354 passing yards and is 105 away from taking Cody Pickett’s record (4,458 in 2002) as the school’s single season #1.

We believe Washington’s offense will be a little too much to handle for Texas. Thus we lean towards a Washington win.
