The Spartans are going through a difficult time. Mark Dantonio serves as a special assistant and Harlon Barnett serves as temporary head coach.
The Michigan Wolverines keep climbing the college football food chain. A tribute to how outstanding this group has been so far is the fact that they are currently co-favorites for capturing the National Championship. In Big Ten competition, Michigan has been crushing challengers, outscoring all 4 opponents by a total of 180-31. The club will take on a faltering Michigan State squad that just switched to Katin Houser at quarterback this past week, almost leading Sparty to victory at Rutgers, with 18 of 29 passes completed, resulting in 133 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Spartans lost last Saturday’s game versus Rutgers after blowing an 18-point lead due to miscues on special teams and mistakes. The bowl hopes of Michigan State took a severe hit as a result. But beating Michigan would be beneficial and effectively salvage the campaign. With a bye week following this week, Michigan football particularly has to match that enthusiasm since this is their Super Bowl.
