There isn’t much time to reflect on Texas A&M’s humiliating 26-20 home defeat to eleventh-ranked Alabama this past weekend. The Aggies travel to Neyland Stadium, one of the nation’s most intimidating venues to play in, for a crucial game versus nineteenth-ranked Tennessee.
The Aggies recently suffered their first conference defeat, falling 26-20 to eleventh-ranked Alabama. The Aggies offense was unable to play a complete contest for both halves despite 8 tackles for loss and 6 total sacks. Texas A&M had chances to regain possession of the contest in the second half with a 17-10 lead, however the Crimson Tide offense’s two consecutive scoring drives in the 3rd quarter proved to be too strong for Jimbo Fisher’s team to handle. After a safety in the last quarter, the Crimson Tide prevailed 26-20.
One of the key lessons taken from the week six loss was that the quarterback position needed to be more effective, as well as Jimbo Fisher’s ability to manage the game more strategically.
Despite taking advantage of their bye in Week 6, the Volunteers head into the Aggie game on a high after defeating South Carolina decisively at home 41-20. Joe Milton has performed admirably so far despite the Vols’ difficulty in replacing previous QB Hendon Hooker, who is leaving for the NFL. This season, Milton has completed 101 of his 160 passes for 1,164 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions.
