In NCAA football’s Week 7 competition on Saturday, 18th-ranked UCLA goes to 15th-ranked Oregon State. Both teams are coming off significant victories over conference opponents.
After suffering conference away losses, both UCLA and Oregon State will face off on Saturday evening in an effort to claim a memorable triumph. The Beavers boast one of the most effective rush attacks in the league, while the Bruins continue to be led by their significantly improved defense.
UCLA won decisively over Washington State to improve to 4-1 as a whole and 1-1 in conference play after an idle week. This was made possible by a solid defensive effort, which included a stifling run stop that allowed less than 65 yards per game.
After DJ Uiagalalei scored5 touchdowns in a road victory over Cal, Oregon State improved to 2-1 in Pac-12 contests and 5-1 overall. This was made possible by a balanced attack that averages 449 total yards per game and has helped Oregon State move up to the 4th spot in the league standings.
Given that UCLA’s QB Dante Moore has struggled in both of his most recent matches, including an away contest at Utah, against strong opposition, this should be an intriguing chess match for both sides. The climate will be hostile when he returns there, but the Oregon State defense can offer the rookie some chances to show off his arm skill.
Despite playing well this season, the Beavers’ defense crumbled in the face of a strong passing onslaught. The squad struggled to stop Cal the previous week with a true freshman QB getting his first start while giving up 38 points against Washington State on their travels.
The UCLA defense, in the meantime, has had a fantastic season. The team recently defeated the same Washington State that destroyed Oregon State at home and is ranked second in PFF’s pass rush grade.
