On Saturday, October 14h, the Troy Trojans will face the Army Black Knights and their No. 22 rushing offense. Troy has the 11th-ranked run defense in NCAA football.
The Trojans defeated Stephen F. Austin in their season opener to get off to a strong beginning. Yet, Troy lost the following 2 contests, to James Madison and Kansas State. With a 27-24 victory over Western Kentucky, Troy returned to the winning column due partially to Kimani Vidal’s 156 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 26 touches.
Troy most recently played Arkansas State. With their resounding victory in that game, the Trojans advanced to 4-2 overall. The previous weekend’s game against Arkansas State saw Troy leading 20-0 at the half and dominating easily 37-3. Vidal yet again had a great game, rushing for 245 yards and scoring 3 times on just 28 attempts. Deshon Stoudemire recorded 4 receptions for 98 yards in addition to QB Gunnar Watson’s 236 additional yards and a score.
On the other side, the Black Knights had a 2-2 record through the initial 4 matches of the season. The victories were against UTSA and Delaware State. In addition, the defeats came to Louisiana-Monroe and Syracuse. Army’s Bryson Daily completed 9 of his 21 passes for 145 yards, a single touchdown, and 2 interceptions in their defeat to the Orange.
Their most recent game was against Boston College. The Black Knights ultimately suffered a difficult loss by a score of 3. Army scored only 3 points in the opening half of their game against Boston College on Saturday, but they recovered after that in a heartbreaking 27-24 loss. Daily led the run with 99 yards from 14 carries and led the passing game with 105 yards and a touchdown on 10-of-13 completion. Casey Reynolds led all receivers with 2 receptions for 37 yards.
