Week 5 of college football calms down a bit after having one of the heaviest schedules in the past few years. On Saturday, the Boise State Broncos will meet the Memphis Tigers in a football game at Memphis’ Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
After beating San Diego State 34-31 on Friday night, Boise State’s record jumped to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in Mountain West play. The Broncos won their second game in a row, thanks in large part to Ashton Jeanty’s 205 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Taylen Green, the quarterback for Boise State, has thrown for 738 yards so far this season, scoring four touchdowns and throwing four interceptions. Ashton Jeanty has rushed for 407 yards and scored six touchdowns, while Eric McAlister has caught passes for 328 yards and scored three times as a receiver.
Linebacker Marco Notarainni has made 28 tackles, making him the defensive team’s top tackler. Boise State has 9.0 sacks and 2.0 interceptions against the quarterback.
After Saturday’s 34-27 loss against the Missouri Tigers, the Memphis Tigers’ record fell to 3-1. The Tigers were able to gain 399 yards of offense, but they also gave up 542 yards in the air to Missouri. Seth Hennigan, Memphis’ quarterback, threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns, but he was also picked off twice.
For the third year in a row, Seth Henigan will lead the Memphis Tigers at quarterback. Last year he was a star at quarterback, earning an 80.6 passing grade from Pro Football Focus, but last week against Missouri he had his worst game as a college player.
Seth Henigan, the starter at quarterback for Memphis, has completed 81% of his passes for 1,107 yards, 8 TDs, and 5 INTs. Blake Watson has rushed for 342 yards and scored four touchdowns, while Roc Taylor has caught passes for 297 yards and scored once.
Meanwhile, Chandler Martin has made 26 tackles and is the defense’s leader. The Memphis defense has ten sacks and two picks.
