The Bulldogs’ opponents this year have gotten a lot of attention. People have been looking forward to this Saturday’s game as a potential window into Kirby Smart’s squad. The SEC East rivalry game between South Carolina and Georgia will be played at Samford Stadium in Athens.
Many people, sadly, do not think Georgia will be subjected to a real test. In the opening line of the week, Georgia is favored by 26.5 points. It’s a large line for any college football game, much less a divisional showdown in the Southeastern Conference.
On Saturday, Georgia will have a perfect 2-0 record, while South Carolina has a 1-1 record. Shane Beamer’s squad got back on track with a resounding victory at home against Furman. In Week 1, they were not very convincing in a loss to North Carolina in Charlotte.
South Carolina’s offensive line was exposed numerous times, leading to nine sacks allowed. Quarterback Spencer Rattler was sacked multiple times and barely had any time to make decisions.
They’ll have to face off against one of the top defensive lines in the country now, which is bad news. After victories over UT-Martin and Ball State, Georgia will be eager to test themselves against a Power Five opponent.
The crowd at Samford Stadium will be rocking for this game. The final season of the Southeastern Conference on CBS will begin with this telecast. But the bookies think this one may be a blowout.
Georgia has been unstoppable under Smart’s leadership as head coach, especially against South Carolina. The Bulldogs have won six of the seven previous matchups between these two teams since the 2016 season began. Columbians, however, are likely to keep in mind their lone victory.
South Carolina, led by Will Muschamp, came out of nowhere to pull off an upset in 2019. Georgia lost by a single point due in large part to kicking errors. This is one of the strangest victories that has been lost in recent memory.
