On Saturday, November 18th, the Army Black Knights (4-6) take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (7-3) at Michie Stadium.
The Army Black Knights, who won by three points versus Holy Cross last Saturday, are still at home this week, two games beneath .500 on a two-game winning skid. Army played excellent defense, giving up only 14 points and forcing just two turnovers throughout the contest. Army’s offensive performance was subpar, totaling only 269 yards, of which 190 were gained on the ground, for 17 points that sealed the match. Army’s top player, Bryson Daily, carried the football on 19 occasions for a team-high 83 yards and completed 4 passes totaling 79 yards. Tyrell Roberts had six carries for forty-five yards and one touchdown during the contest. Casey Reynolds caught one pass for 69 yards. By the end of the match, Holy Cross had gained 395 yards in total thanks to the Black Knights’ defense. 156 yards were gained through passing while 239 yards were gained with the team’s run defense.
Coming into this week, Coastal Carolina is 7-3 overall and on a five-game winning run after defeating Texas State by 5 points in their previous match. Coastal Carolina’s offensive leader, Grayson McCall, has completed 151 passes for 1919 yards along with 10 touchdowns during the current campaign. With 371 yards and 5 touchdowns on 81 carries, Braydon Bennett paces the team. CJ Beasley has contributed 252 yards as well as a pair of touchdowns on 64 carries. On 54 receptions, Sam Pinckney leads the squad with 763 yards plus 6 touchdowns. Texas State was able to generate 280 yards of offense against Coastal Carolina’s defense. They handed up 199 yards on the ground and 81 yards in the passing game. Ranking 120th in passing yards surrendered per contest is the defense of Coastal Carolina.
