Game Preview

Game Preview

In Week 13, the New York Jets (4-7) and Atlanta Falcons (5-6) square off at MetLife Stadium on December 3rd.

The Falcons defeated the New Orleans Saints 24–15 in their most recent game. Desmond Ridder finished with 168 yards on 13 of 21 passes (61.9%), one touchdown, and two interceptions in that game against the Saints. In addition, he completed seven 30-yard carries of the ball. Adding three receptions for 32 yards and one touchdown, Bijan Robinson ran for 91 yards on 16 carries (5.7 yards per carry) and 1 touchdown. In the 24-15 victory over the NFC South rival Saints, Ridder wasn’t exactly the model of adequate quarterback play. Despite having a passer rating of 63.3, he was intercepted twice. In addition to running for 15 first downs, the Falcons scored with a pick-six. The Falcons are leading their awful NFC South division, despite their 25th-place ranking in DVOA. After a late touchdown, Atlanta defeated the Saints at home by nine, the Packers by 2, Tampa Bay by 3 and the Texans by 2.

On Black Friday, the Jets lost to the Miami Dolphins 34–13 at home, losing their fourth straight game. For the Jets versus the Dolphins, QB Tim Boyle completed 27 of 38 passes for 179 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions while running back Breece Hall finished with seven carries for twenty-five yards (3.6 yards per attempt) and seven receptions for twenty-four yards.
Head Coach Robert Saleh finally made a change after witnessing the offense struggle for ten games with Wilson at the center. Boyle was selected to start against the Dolphins on Black Friday. Approaching his season debut, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett praised him for his “unbelievable knowledge of the system”. Given 14.8 points per game, the Jets are 30th out of 32 teams, and have only completed seven touchdown passes this season.
