In Week 13, the New England Patriots (2-9) and Los Angeles Chargers (4-7) square off on December 3 at Gillette Stadium.
The Chargers are currently in last place in the AFC West after losing to the Baltimore Ravens 20-10 at home in their last game. They have dropped their last three games and have struggled recently to get their offense going. Their top passer (217 yards) and rusher (47 yards) of the game was quarterback Justin Herbert while WR Keenan Allen gained 106 yards on 14 catches. After Week 6, Herbert is 23rd in the league in completion percentage (63.4%) and 22nd in yards per pass attempt (6.7 Y/A). The Chargers’ defensive unit will need to strengthen its run defense this week because they allowed the Ravens to rush for 197 yards in week 12 and gave up 164 passing yards as well. With third downs, the Ravens were 4/13.
Sunday’s 10-7 loss to the New York Giants marked New England’s fourth straight defeat. QB Bailey Zappe took over for the Patriots after starting QB Mac Jones, who was benched after throwing his second interception. In the defeat, the two only managed 143 yards of passing combined. Mac Jones completed 12 of 21 passes for 89 yards, but he did not run or throw for a touchdown. Jones had a 27 passer rating at the end of the match. Out of all the NFL teams, New England has scored the fewest points (148). Billy Zappe has passed for 158 yards and two interceptions, while Mac Jones has thrown for 2,120 yards with ten touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Their offense has seen better years as New England averages 5.6 yards per attempt (18) and is ranked 13th in passing attempts going into week 13 while they are ranked 23rd in the league with 193.8 passing yards per game.
