After last year’s 9-8 campaign ended in the Wild Card stage, Seattle will be trying to advance further in the playoffs this time around. The Seahawks concluded with a 4-3 record, good enough for second place in the NFC West. Seattle’s record was 4-5 away from Safeco Field compared to 5-4 at home.
The Seahawks had an over/under record of 9-9 and a record of 7-11 against the spread last season. Games played by Seattle averaged 48.4 points in total, with a -0.7 point scoring margin.
For the Rams, Sunday will mark the beginning of the road to recovery from a title defense that was the worst in Super Bowl history. Matthew Stafford has reportedly had trouble connecting with the Rams’ newfound emphasis on youth. Despite his injury-plagued 2022 season, Stafford will return, however it is unclear if star receiver Cooper Kupp will be well enough to play.
The Rams are getting ready for their season opening after finishing last year with a 5-12 record. Los Angeles was the third-best team in the NFC West, but they were unable to beat their division rivals and ended up with a 1-5 record.
The Rams finished with a 4-5 record at home but a dismal 1-7 mark on the road. The Rams had an over/under record of 6-10-1 last season and a record of 7-9-1 against the spread. Seasonally, Los Angeles had a -4.5 point scoring differential, and their games averaged a total of 40.6 points.
Seattle’s young core will have another summer of experience to help them advance in 2023, while the Rams will still be in transition. The offense should score points with relative ease, and the Seahawks are tough to beat in one of the NFL’s more intimidating stadiums.
