This Sunday afternoon game marks the return of rivalry between the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders at Soldier Field. Last weekend, Las Vegas Raiders improved to 3-3 with an upset win against New England Patriots 21-17 due to Jimmy Garoppolo’s early injury exit; these results put them second in AFC West.
This matchup between the Raiders and Bears stands Chicago will have to prove themselves, against a Raiders team with slightly more talent on paper. Yet there are questions surrounding Las Vegas heading into this matchup, particularly at quarterback where Garoppolo sustained a back injury during Week 6. If he can’t play, veteran Brian Hoyer is expected to take over.

Additionally, the Raiders possess an effective running game led by Josh Jacobs with 25 carries for 77 yards (2.7 average per carry) last game.
On defense, the team has been consistently impressive this season and have given up few points overall. They currently rank 11th in total yards allowed, 9th in passing yards allowed and 23rd in rushing yards allowed – with Maxx Crosby (5.5 sacks, 22 solo tackles, 8 TFL) and Tre’von Moehrig (4 passess defended and 2 interceptions).
This season has not gone as expected for the Bears; they rank 19th in scoring (21.3 ppg) and 14th in offensive efficiency on third down (40.5 percent). They have struggled scoring red zone touchdowns; with only ten touchdowns scored so far this season.
The Bears team must establish their identity on offense. Instead of settling for long drives, they need to focus on making quick throws that allow their skill players to get out in space more freely, otherwise their slow start to the season will continue.
