Texans vs Falcons (W5)
The Atlanta Falcons and the Houston Texans will face each other in week 5 of the 2023 NFL Season on October 8th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Although it seems unlikely that the Atlanta Falcons will make the NFL playoffs in 2023, there is sufficient uncertainty around what lies ahead for it to be possible to think about how they can challenge for the division. That would involve the success of their wager on Desmond Ridder, a 3rd-round choice from the 2022 draft.
The Falcons’ decision to pass on the quarterback position during the 2023 NFL Draft as well as seeking for one through free agency shows a remarkable amount of faith in Ridder, who has the ability to either make or break a squad that is offensively well-equipped thanks to head coach Arthur Smith, exciting playmakers Kyle Pitts and Drake London, and the rookie 1st-round choice Bijan Robinson.

But can the newly formed team, which has been extremely active this summer, shock everyone by becoming one of the few NFL teams who jump from last in their division to coming in 1st in only one offseason.
Throughout the free agency period, the Texans weren’t hesitant. DeMeco Ryans scored a major coup when he managed to prevent Jimmie Ward from concluding his time as a 49er. Ward is going to be able to avoid the problems with offseason communication between teams and players. Robert Woods might be past his prime at this stage in his playing days, but Dalton Schultz has a good chance of being the rookie quarterback’s best friend. Brandin Cooks was unquestionably the top offensive player for the Texans, but because of his high salary and apparent dissatisfaction with Houston, he left the city.
