Picks & Analysis: Vikings vs Raiders 12-10-2023

Game Preview

Game Preview

On December 10th, the Vikings (6-6) and Raiders (5-7) square off at Allegiant Stadium.

Anyone who has followed the Raiders and Chiefs for a few years knows where both teams are at this point, so what happened in Week 12 wasn’t shocking to anyone. The fact that Las Vegas jumped out to a 14-0 lead behind an outstanding 63-yard run by Josh Jacobs and an 18-yard touchdown pass from Jakobi Meyers was about the only aspect of the game that caused concern. However, the Chiefs emerged from their sleep and dominated the Raiders for the remainder of the game, winning 31–17. Jacobs had a 63-yard touchdown pass. Aside from that play, not much else transpired. He ended with 110 yards from 20 carries. The team’s rookie quarterback, Aidan O’Connell, isn’t acting like the solution to their quarterback problems. He’s merely an ordinary rookie making first-year blunders; he’s not horrible.

A fortnight ago, the Monday night game at home against the Bears was a concerning point in a Vikings campaign that has already seen its fair share of hardships. A lackluster showing from Josh Dobbs and an extremely flat offense versus Chicago did not stop Minnesota from winning additional games despite serious setbacks to Kirk Cousins as well as Justin Jefferson. The Vikings were surpassed by the Bears on this particular evening 317 to 242. This is not a common occurrence for teams. Dobbs flung four interceptions. Though some weren’t totally his fault, he seemed strange altogether. For once, a Chicago defense that has given up a lot of points this season appeared more than capable, which was detrimental to Minnesota. Despite only touching the ball ten times, Alexander Mattison produced a solid 5.2 yards per run average. Late in the game, T.J. Hockenson tallied the only touchdown for the Vikings; however, their luck took a turn for the worse during Chicago’s match-winning field goal drive.
