The Cincinnati Bengals (5-3) and Houston Texans (4-4) square up at Paycor Stadium on Sunday November 12th, and a potential explosive offense could ensue.
Naturally, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is the main plot point of this story. He had played some excellent football in the past, but last week was unique. 470 yards and no fewer than 5 TDs on a 30-for-42 day. His last touchdown his team was down 37-33 with six seconds remaining when he made that final shot. He was incredible, performing in a way that was genuinely worthy of a first-round draft selection. They have been weak in the running game as they are presently ranked 27th in rushing yards after running the ball 26.8 times per game on average thus far. They rank thirtieth with an average of 3.2 yards per attempt.
Cincinnati is now playing at a high level. After starting the season 1-3, they have won four straight games, with their most recent victory coming versus the Buffalo Bills. Josh Allen was restrained by the defense, while Joe Burrow appears to be fully recovered from his injury that began the season. This week’s complications are exacerbated by wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase of the Bengals being injured. He landed awkwardly and forcibly on his back on Sunday night, and when asked about his plans for the remainder of the week by the media on Monday, he remained reticent.
In their game against the Bills, Cincinnati won 24–18 despite only scoring 3 points in the second half. Joe Mixon led the team rushing with 37 yards and a touchdown, while Joe Burrow gained 348 yards and a pair of touchdowns. With eight catches, Tee Higgins gained 110 receiving yards.
