Week 12 at MetLife Stadium features a meeting between the New England Patriots (2-8) and New York Giants (3-8) on November 26.
This week marks New England’s comeback to the field following their Week 11 bye when they played the Indianapolis Colts 10-6 in Frankfurt, Germany. Quarterback Mac Jones was benched by coach Bill Belichick following his league-high tenth interception. QB Bailey Zappe entered the game with 1:52 remaining, but he threw an interception that ended the game after two first downs. Naturally, letting this quarterback competition continue into the practice week raises the issue of whether the person who ends up winning the position will be completely prepared having not played in the majority of the repetitions. Mac Jones has started every one of New England’s 10 matches in 2023. He has completed 65.4% of his throw attempts thus far this season, and his touchdown-to-interception ratio is 10-10. Will Grier, a quarterback who was brought in by the Patriots off the Bengals practice squad in September, is the other player who might get the start in Week 12.
The Giants won their first game in a month at FedEx Field, defeating the Washington Commanders 31-19. Third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns in his first career win as a starter while running back Saquon Barkley amassed 140 yards overall and two touchdowns. When you take away the Giants’ performance against the Cowboys, you can see that they have improved their defense and consistency recently. DeVito had a perfect rating of 158.3 after completing 7 of 8 throws for 113 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions on third down versus the Commanders. In both of his initial NFL starts, he became the first quarterback for the Giants since 1950 to pass for at least five touchdowns.
